An unidentified bomber blew himself up on Monday in Al Noor city in Yemen's western Taiz province, but the circumstances of the incident remain unclear, security sources said.
The anonymous suicide bomber's body was torn to pieces but there were not other casualties, they said.
However, director general of the Al-Mudhafar district Dirhim Yahya said preliminary investigations revealed that two anonymous people rented days ago an apartment in the area through a mediator and the bomber might be one of them.
Also, eyewitnesses said one of the two people exploded near the apartment while the second disappeared.
Yahya said an explosive belt is thought have caused the explosion after police found a battery and other items in the apartment that are usually used for bombing.
We arrested the mediator who said he had known the two people through another person whom we are searching for, he said, adding that investigations into the incident are continuing.
