The Saudi-led coalition has airdropped weapons and munitions for the forces loyal to the Yemeni government as it continued to strike the Houthi militants in the province of Taiz.
Sources with the popular resistance said on Thursday in the coalition airdropped light and medium weapons and munitions twice in the past 48 hours.
Locals in the mountain of Sabir said a package of munitions exploded late on Wednesday after it crashed onto the ground coinciding with reports the munitions were targeted by the Houthis while being airdropped.
There were no casualties, the sources said.
Fighter jets and warships have been pounding the Houthi militants in Taiz for weeks coinciding with raging battles.
Today, the battles between the government forces backed by the popular resistance and the militants continued in several areas.
The national forces are continuing to make gains retaking more positions and killing dozens of Houthis, the sources added.
The coalition also struck Houthi forces and weapon depots in other provinces including Ibb, Saada and Baidha.
The Saudi-led bombing campaign was launched in late March with the goal to restore the legitimacy of the UN-backed government which was ousted by the Houthis.
On Wednesday, Saudi foreign minister Adel Al-Jubeir said the military intervention is nearing an end amid efforts to address the crisis in Yemen politically primarily through talks between the warring parties.
The UN envoy Ismail Ould Chiekh has started arrangements for a new round talks after the government and the Houthis agreed to that.
