Yemen's president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi fired senior military and security officials accused of implementing orders from ex-president and leader of Houthi militants.
Chief of the staffs of the army and his deputy as well as chief of the special forces were fired as dissident forces loyal to ex-president are continuing to provide support to Houthi militants to seize southern cities.
After the Houthi militant group tightened grip on power, it appointed its loyalists for key positions at the army and security apparatuses.
Most of the appointees have been accused of participation in attacks on cities and extrajudicial killings.
Meanwhile, Arab jets struck today ballistic missiles controlled by the militants in Sanaa.
Moreover, jets successfully struck Houthi supply and reinforcement convoys in Shabwa and Baidha while on their way into Aden.
Popular committees in Aden have been fighting Houthi militants for more than a week.
Today, the committees repelled an attack destroying three tanks and three armoured cars in the Moalla town, members from the committees said.
Around 40 Houthis were killed and others injured in the battle, they added.
Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia launched a military operation against the militants following a coup against the legitimate president and government.
Separately, tribes in Hadramout city have launched a battle to retake Mukalla city from Al-Qaeda militants.
In the past two days, the tribes took control of all towns, ports and military brigands amid fears Al-Qaeda and Houthi militants could think of seizing the city.
Tribes from nearby Shabwa and Marib cities are backing the Hadramout tribes and popular committees in Aden.
