Yemen's Hadi gets a copy of new constitution draft

Yemen's transition president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi met on Wednesday with the constitution-drafting committee and was handed a copy of the draft of the new constitution. He hailed the draft as a stride on the transition road while affirming the government will not spare any effort to make sure that all requirements of the transition are met as the people are looking forward to. The committee revealed days ago it had finalized the preparation and review of all provisions in the draft coinciding with reports the Houthi Group rejected to sign the draft. The group has neither confirmed nor denied such reports. The draft will be submitted to the supervisory national commission on the dialog outcomes implementation to review and approve it before putting it for a public vote. The committee said the public will have access to the draft before final approval and that public insights and ideas will be taken into account. Meanwhile, Hadi called on the commission to make sure the new constitution has been prepared in accordance with the final document of the national dialog conference. He urged the commission to do its job on time and to take into account the sensitive turning point is passing through. "Any postponement will be reflected on the country's stability and security as well as the people's livelihoods," Hadi was quoted as saying. Under the new constitution, Yemen will become a federation of six regions.
