Tens of Yemeni people were killed and injured after a suicide bomber exploded himself at a religious ceremony in the province of Ibb, security sources said on Wednesday.
The attack occurred at the Cultural Center in downtown Ibb when Houthi fans were celebrating the anniversary of Prophet Mohammed's birthday, the sources said, without giving a specific figure of those who were killed and injured.
Reports said Governor Yahya Al-Eryani was there at the time if the explosion and survived the attack.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack which officials said bore the fingerprints of Al-Qaeda.
Al-Qaeda has carried deadly operations against Houthi militants who have been expanding by force and so far seized nine northern cities including Ibb and the capital Sanaa since July.
Meanwhile, the Houthi Militant Group is continuing preparations for the celebration on the Prophet Mohammed's birthday. Slogans on road signs and green flags have been raised all over the capital.
