Experts told Yemen Post that transition President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi would resort to joining the separatist Harak Movement if the Houthi Militant Group insisted on rejecting that Yemen becomes a six-region federation. Lately, Hadi said there is no room for any group to reject any outcomes of those which had been consensually agreed by all factions during the national dialog conference, while affirming the six-region federation is the best solution. This week coincided with escalating protests and actions in southern cities to demand for separation. The Iran-backed Houthi Group took over the capital in September and has been expanding by force in northern cities since July. It has seized nine cities and is eying to seize more in the north. For southerners, the Houthi takeover has served their demand because the developments in the north destroyed their hope of a better, civil state. After the dialog concluded in January, the group started battles against politics and tribal foes and later expressed its rejection to a six-region federation. Spokespersons for the group have said the suggestion of the six regions, four in the north and two in the south, did not take into account that all federal regions have equal shares of wealth and income resources. The group was supposed to be within the Azal region which includes the capital Sanaa, Amran and Dhamar. Meanwhile, Houthis have revealed their group wants to be put within a region which should have a seaport.
