Cities in southern Yemen witnessed a partial civil disobedience as part of the escalating protests demanding for separation from the north.
The civil disobedience occurred in Aden, Lahj and Dhale, according to locals.
Locals in Aden said stores closed willingly and that members from the Southern Movement, Harak, forced shops to shut down in other cities.
In Aden, members from Harak closed some streets and clashed with security forces but there were not casualties.
Many people have been protesting in the south to demand separation since October.
Lately, youth activist Khalid Al-Junaidi and another southern protesters were killed in Aden and Shabwa.
The murders led to further escalation of the protests.
When the Houthi Militant Group seized the capital and continued to expand by force in September, southerners said such developments would boost their demands and rights because the Houthi takeover buried all transitional accomplishments.
