This coming new academic year, the Ministry of Education and the Head of the Friends of Yemen British parliamentary group, headed by MP Keith Vaz will launch a new English language program by utilizing new technology.
This new education scheme will use the internet communication system Skype to put Yemeni students in contact with Training Connect, an English language training center based in London.
Yemeni students will be offered two hourly sessions per week.
"In the upcoming school year, Training Connect, an English language training center based in London, will provide free lessons for two hours a week to school students in Sana'a and select schools in other areas of the country to improve their English language skills, Yemen Education Minister Abdul Razzaq al-Ashwal explained.
"This programme falls within Ministry of Education efforts to address three major challenges facing the education system in our country: improving the quality of education, teacher training and developing a national curriculum to teach the English language," he added.
Minister Ashwal said to be keen to see develop similar programs in the country as it will help Yemeni students to improve their academic performance and skills, thus enhancing their future contribution in the work place.
"Through the educational partnership, experts from each country will visit the other country, educational institutions will be strengthened technically and scientifically, and Yemeni educational personnel will be trained "to improve educational performance in general", al-Ashwal told reporters.
