A Yemeni charged with ripping up and treading on the Quran will face court on apostasy charges after he was found guilty of desecration.
Judicial source said Wednesday investigations with Abdullah Al-Baidhani have been completed and he is expected to appear in court soon.
However, the source said that prosecutors are investigating the mob who destroyed the three-storey house of the desecrator and burned his two cars after Al-Baidhani tore up the Quran and insulted it before the people in Al-Hasaba area, Sana'a.
On April 13, men at the Al-Anqa'a mosque in Al-Hasaba were waiting to perform their prayers when they heard a loud commotion and quickly ran out to see what it was.
They were shocked to find pages of the holy Quran torn up and scattered on the floor near Abdulmalik Al-Baidani's house, which is next door to the mosque.
"I am a non-believer," shouted Al-Baidani, holding a gun and threatening to shoot anyone who attempted to salvage the pages, say eyewitnesses.
After the neighbors' cries of condemnation, he went back inside his house and people hurriedly picked up the pages from the ground.
The man's act triggered the anger of the people who then rallied and took matters into their own hands.

The people called the police and informed them about the desecration.
Seeing the police did not take action, the people decided to take matters into their own hands destroying Al-Baidhani's house and burning his cars.
Dealing with the incident, the Yemeni Parliament and community leaders formed a committee with the Ministry of Interior to investigate the issue.
In Yemen as in other Arab countries, the people can't stay wise with their hands tied up when it comes to religious violations such as insulting the Quran, the Muslim's holy book.
