The Shiite Houthi Group has reached an agreement with an arms dealer to import weapons to Yemen's capital Sanaa, Alahale reported on Tuesday quoting a statement by local sources in Saada province in the far north.
"The deal was reached with the arms dealer and a senior official in Saada to import weapons and bring them into Sanaa," the sources were quoted as saying.
The website also quoted a military source and locals in some areas of Saada as saying the Houthi Group, which the government has recently said is receiving direct support from Iran, has started storing light and medium weapons in a suspicious way.
"Unprecedented moves by the Houthi Group have been m recently reported in some Saada parts including switching houses into weapons stores," the sources added.
The statements coincided with reports the Group is conspiring with the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh to spread chaos in Sanaa.
The Houthi Group, which joined the popular uprising in 2011 after six wars with the army, has been reportedly allying with Saleh and his loyalists to occupy Sanaa amid accusations by the new Yemeni government that Iran is providing direct support to it with the aim to obstruct the political transition.
It agreed to participate in a comprehensive national dialogue conference under the West-backed power-transfer deal, but concerns are growing about the true intentions of the group.
