The Egyptian authorities have deported nine Yemeni children to their homeland after the police in association with the Yemeni community broke up an international human trafficking ring accused of trading in human organs.
The authorities found ten Yemeni children early last month in Cairo who the ring could bring to the country where they were expected to undergo surgeries to remove their organs to trade in them.
First the children were handed over to the Yemeni community.
The children were in good health. 9 out of them have been sent home while the other one was handed over to his family in Egypt.
The Egyptian police arrested five suspected human traffickers, in a security operation that came after a Yemeni family informed the community of an incident in which traffickers deceived their child, took him to a hospital in Cairo, and removed his kidney for $ 5000.
Chairman of the community Ibrahim Al-Jahmi said five suspected human traffickers were arrested, affirming the entire group was now in custody.
He said the group is accused of trading in human body parts and luring children to take out their organs to trade in them.
The ring had already kidnapped ten Yemeni children and brought them to Cairo, he noted but did not say whether the children had their organs removed.
Initial investigations with the ring revealed it was part of an international human trafficking network trading in human organs worldwide, Al-Jahmi said, adding the ring always carried out surgeries with help from some private hospitals in Egypt.
The hospitals usually perform secret surgeries to remove needed body organs such as kidney, he made clear.
The five suspected human traffickers will face court soon, he affirmed.
The ring was led by a Jordanian named Fawaz yousef and included three Palestinians and a Yemeni as members, Al-Jahmi said.
