Yemen’s sacked air force commander, who refused to step down three weeks ago, finally quits after being warned that he would be sanctioned, the Defense Ministry said.

Jamal Benomar, UN Envoy to Yemen said that General Mohammed Saleh has handed his duties over to his successor.

Defense Ministry officials said that Saleh was warned that he would be sanctioned if he did not step down from the air force before a deadline that ended today.
