Ambassadors of the European Union, Russia and Oman failed Thursday to persuade leaders of the Southern Movement to take part in the early presidential elections due to be held on Feb 21, local sources said.
The EU ambassadors tried to persuade the leaders that the elections would be a good opportunity to resolve the Yemeni issues, particularly the southern case, stressing that the international community ignored their grieves.
According to local sources in Aden, those leaders who seek to secession and federalism refused suggestions of participation in elections.
A southern leader, Nabeel Yaseen, said the meeting resulted in no decisions, pointing out that the southern leaders affirmed that they allow to run the elections without any violence.
