Like many countries in the Middle East and North Africa, Yemen has witnessed unprecedented massive popular protests demanding the removal of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who alternately reacted to their protests with conciliatory measures, heavy crackdown and promises of reforms.
Saleh, 70, has left Yemen for USA to receive further medical treatment for wounds and burns sustained in the infamous assassination attempts in June last year; however unfortunately for him protests have followed him to New York.
