Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Baker Al-Qirbi met on Sunday with the United Nations permanent members' and Gulf Cooperation Council constituent states' ambassadors in the Yemeni capital of Sana'a.
During the meeting, they reviewed the latest developments in the Yemeni arena, including the process of implementing the GCC-brokered deal, which was signed late in November in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, and the preparations for the early presidential elections due to be held on February 21.
Al-Qirbi briefed the diplomats the requirements that Yemen needs in its 2-year transitional period.
He thanked the ambassadors for their efforts aimed at helping Yemen get back on track and steering out of the current crisis.
For their part, the diplomats showed their relief and happiness for the evident progress in the political scene and called on all parties to unify their efforts and engage in inclusive national dialogue to face the various challenges.
Like many countries in the Middle East and North Africa, Yemen has witnessed massive popular protests demanding an end to the 33-year-long of Ali Abdullah Saleh and calling for building a modern and civil state.
Separately, Saleh arrived on Sunday New York to receive further medical treatment for wounds and injuries inflicted in an assassination attempt in June last year.
