The UN national Security Council flexed its muscles and let Yemeni political factions know that it is closely observing the country.
The UN said that is looking closely at the developments Yemen is going through, and called on all sides to help in ensuring the complete implementation of the political agreement.
In a statement, the council call on all sides to honour the timetable set out in the agreement, including the formation of a government of national consensus, presidential elections within 90 days, a national dialogue, a constitutional review, and a programme of reforms that start to tackle the profound humanitarian, economic and security challenges that Yemen faces.
Since the signing of the power transfer deal in Riyadh, clashes have been non-stop in the outskirts of Sana’a resulting in at least seven deaths and dozens injured.
Political analysts do not expect President Saleh to leave power according to the deal and are warning the international community that he is up to something.
“He is still playing games and meeting ranking officials. He calls for these meetings while he is now unauthorized to call for them,” said Ali Mamari, an opposition parliament member.
