At least three civilians were killed and eight others injured when the republican guard continued to shell Al-Rawdha district and targeted the house of a military commander who jointed the popular youth-led uprising in Yemen's southern Taiz province on Friday.
Locals said a republican guard post near Al-Thawra hospital in downtown Taiz fired three rockets, one of which landed at the district killing a civilian and injuring others.
The other rockets targeted the house of Sadeq Sarhan, an air force commander within the first armoured division, which announced peaceful support to the popular revolution months ago, killing two civilians and injuring others.
The republican guard has heavily shelled some districts in Taiz since it started operations against armed tribesmen who flooded into the city to defend the revolution.
Many civilians and soldiers have been killed and thousands of families displaced in the northern parts of Taiz.
Meantime, hundreds of thousands of people gathered in dueling protests in Yemeni cities.
