The Canadian Nexen Inc, the sixth largest oil producer in Yemen, has temporarily shut down its operations in Yemen due to the strike of the workers as the month-long unrest continues in most of the cities.
Officials at the company said that the company is trying to reach an agreement with the striking workforce at Al-Masila field and the government.
Also the workforce at the company's operations in Hadramout held a strike last week but later they agreed to call off that amid hope an permanent agreement over their rights will be reached soon.
Despite the unrest that has hit almost all key economic sectors and small businesses, oil companies said they operations continued normally.
