Yemeni security forces arrested Twakul Karman, a rights activist after being convicted of organizing anti-government protests in Sana'a province.
Karman who heads the Women Journalists Without Chains organization,was arrested in the capital Sana'a near her house.
'We were driving home when three police patrol vehicles intercepted our car and soldiers snatched her from the car,' her husband Muhammad Ismael Al-Nehmi told outlets media.
The Interior Ministry said in a statement that Karman was arrested under a warrant from the Public Prosecution for leading unlicensed student protests in Sana'a last week.
Karman, known for her fierce anti-government positions, organized several protests outside the university campus in Sana'a during the past week, and the protests drew hundreds of protesters.
On the other hand, Yemeni Journalists Syndicate organized a rally the release of press freedom activist, Tawakul Karman, and other detainees.
