Four Americans were targeted in an attack last night. Senior Interior Ministry source denied that the explosive device that blew up in Hadda area of the capital was linked to Al-Qaeda.
Media outlets reported last night that a Jordanian citizen planted an explosive device in the back of a pickup vehicle of American embassy employees. The vehicle had light damages while no one was injured. According to pro-governemnt news source, the Jordanian planted the explosive in the American citizen's vehicle; however, eyewitnesses deny that happening.
Yemen Post confirms that a Jordanian was arrested with possession of a gun according to the same source.
"There are no witnesses that the Jordanian planted the explosives in the U.S. citizen's vehicle. Until now, we have no proof that he has links with any terrorist group, Interior Ministry source said."
"If the suspect wanted to kill Americans he would have put the explosives inside the vehicle directly, and not in the back of the pickup."
Yemen Post contacted the office of the head of the Counter Terror Unit in Yemen, Yahya Mohammed Saleh, and they had no information of the attack.
The office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security Affairs, Dr. Rashad Alemi, also claim that they had not heard of the attack.
