Saudi Arabia has denied changes in the border with Yemen after it was brought into the recently-ended war between the Yemeni army and the Houthi rebels.

Prince Khaled bin Sultan, assistant minister of defense and aviation for military affairs, said during a visit to Jazan that the border remains in accordance with the agreement signed by the two countries, Arab News reported.

All reports on the changes were untrue and what is happening in Yemen remains an internal matter of the country, the prince told reporters.

During his visit, he held a press conference pointing to Yemen and Saudi committees eliminating landmines amid the ceasefire between the Yemeni army and the Houthi militants.

However, he urged Saudi armed forces on the border to be vigilant to thwart possible incursions in the future by the Houthi infiltrators.

We have learnt a lesson from the previous incursions by the infiltrators…..that we must be ready now to deal with possible similar attacks, he said, pointing to Saudi plans to set up a military base on the border with Yemen.

Answering a question on the Houthi implementation of the conditions of withdrawing from Saudi lands, returning Saudi captives and eliminating landmines, the prince said that the rebels have fulfilled them.

We have already received our captives and the bodies of those who were killed through the Yemeni government, he confirmed.
