One of the two fugitives who were killed during the dawn raid on a hideout of wanted suspects in Yemen's southern province of Abyan was an Al-Qaeda suspect, a security source said on Monday.
Ali Saleh Al-Yafi'e had links to Al-Qaeda and was an arms dealer that supplied weapons to the separatists in the south, the source said.
Two policemen were killed and another was injured in the raid when the wanted suspects exchanged fire with police who tried to seize them. The raid took place in Zunjbar city.
Five wanted suspects were arrested as well, the source said.
Meanwhile, the authorities have warned the people against sheltering terrorist suspects and outlaw elements because those who may be found guilty of doing so would be severally punished.
Early today, reports surfaced that the deaths and injuries occurred when police raided a hideout of a separatist leader and an arms dealer, Al-Yafi'e.
