Yemen said on Thursday the police had arrested ten fugitives including seven Qaeda suspects.
The arrested included the leader of Al-Qaeda in Abyan Sami Dayan who was held on the Yemeni-Saudi border while trying to leave Yemen.
They face charges over involvement in subversion, targeting the national unity and committing terrorist acts.
The announcement came as a hunt for subversives and terrorist suspects was launched in the southern province of Abyan.
A wanted suspect has been killed in clashes with the police early Thursday in the district of Ja'ar.
There were no casualties among the police hunting a group accused of disorder and targeting the social security and stability in the province which has seen much violence this year.
The suspect killed was identified as Ahmed Abul Rahman, known as Abu Al-Betra'a, wanted in connection with sabotage acts in Ja'ar.
Early this year, a massive military campaign was launched for terrorist and subversive suspects in Abyan.
The city has seen much violence during the hunt and demonstrations staged by the anti-government southern movement which turned violent with the protesters clashing with the security forces and attacking the people's properties.
