France voiced on Monday concern about the situation on the Yemeni-Saudi border after the Houthi insurgents infiltrated into the Saudi territory taking a region and sparking a tough Saudi reaction with the Saudi troops attacking rebels and pursuing them to their Yemen-based strongholds.
There should be an immediate end to the invasion on the kingdom of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty as well as a compromise establishing peace and stability in the region, France urged.
A spokesman for the European State's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned in a press release attacks by the Yemeni Houthi rebels against the Saudi troops causing Saudi losses.
France firmly condemns violating Saudi sovereignty, Bernard Valero said.
The remarks come as confrontations between the rebels, who have been fighting the Yemeni army since 2004, and Saudi troops raged on the border with the kingdom confirming some casualties.
Many rebels have been arrested and others killed, according to Saudi official sources, though the rebels claim gains from the clashes.
Saudi Arabia confirmed it has retaken the Jabal Al-Dukhan which was seized by the Houthis days ago.
The escalation on the border comes after the Yemeni army launched in August an offensive against the insurgents that was, according to the government, triggered by continuous lawbreaking and attacking the people and troops.
Hundreds of Houthis have been killed, wounded and arrested, with each side claiming gains from the fresh confrontations that come within a more-than-five-year war in Saada and Amran in the far north.
