The army is said preparing to enter the Old Saada City after presidential orders to put an end to the battles with the Houthi insurgents within 10 days.
Local sources told the Alsahwa website that the authorities had given the rebels who sheltered to their houses in the city until 12 PM today to surrender.
Troops called on the rebels early today using microphones to hand themselves or troops would enter the city and fight them there, the sources said.
The move comes amid the fiercest battles between the army and the rebels since an offensive was launched in August and as the army says the rebels have lost their strength, expecting an and to the war as close.
The fresh confrontations were said to have lasted for more than 21 hours.
The rebels carried out attacks on the governmental facilities in Saada that resulted in 24 Houthis killed and other rebels wounded.
However, no soldier casualties were reported.
In recent days, many rebels were reported dead, arrested and surrendering as the army continued to battle them in a sixth war since 2004.
