Five soldiers were killed and three others wounded late on Saturday in an ambush carried out by saboteurs in the southern province of Dhale, the Almotamar website reported on Sunday.
However, the driver of the ambulance survived the attack.
Saboteurs attacked a security patrol and an ambulance killing the troops who attended the burial of one their fellows killed in the battles with the Houthi insurgents in the far north.
The attack took place about 1:00 am when the troops where on their way back from the service at the district of Alazariq.
The two vehicles came under a heavy hail of bullets fired from different directions, according to official sources. The dead and hurt were not locals.
Officials in the province confirmed the incident, saying three soldiers were seriously injured and transported to Sana'a for special treatments while the bodies of the dead were put in a hospital in the province.
