Urging an immediate ceasefire in northern Yemen, the U.S. has pledged to provide more financial assistance for the war-affected people in northern Yemen, about $ 3 million.
The sum would be directed for those living at the displaced camps.
Spokesman for the U.S. Department of State Eyan Kelly said the U.S. urges the government and the Houthi rebels to stop fighting and to allow a free aid delivery for the affected.
The U.S. also urged a regional coordination to facilitate providing relief materials for the affected.
Early this month the U.S. said that the Yemeni government is responsible for maintaining peace in its northern parts after the army escalated its offensive against the Houthis.
It then revealed $ 2.5 million in aid for the Yemeni people fleeing the war, saying the sum would be channeled through the USAID and the Food-for-Peace Program.
The aid included foodstuffs for 100.000 people sufficient for two months.
