As he arrived in Sana’a following his participation in the 132 regular round of the Arab League Council, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abu Bakr Al-Qirbi revealed that all Arab countries are supportive of Yemen’s unity and stability.
Hinting at the ongoing war in Sa’ada and past events that took place in some southern and eastern provinces, Al-Qirbi noted that the Arab countries denounced violence acts with political or sectarian objectives.
Al-Qirbi said that the meetings – which were concluded on Thursday in Egypt’s Cairo, addressed the developments in Yemen as well as the efforts made by the government to stop sabotage acts practiced by the Houthi followers in Sa’ada.
Despite discussing the situation in Yemen in general and Sa’ada in particular, the Arab Foreign Ministers confined their comments to denouncing any violent acts, especially when Yemen rejected any proposals for mediation between the government and the Houthi rebels.
Experts noted that Yemen’s rejection seeks not to have the crisis internationalized or even regionalized and the government feels now it was wrong to accept the Qatari mediation where Houthis were treated in equal footage with the government.
Yemeni Foreign Minister accused 200 online media outlets – though he did not name them – of supporting Houthis and publishing and fabricating news and reports about the situation in Sa’ada.
Attending a fast-breaking banquet organized by the Yemeni Embassy in Cairo, Al-Qirbi told the Yemeni community and students that government does not raise the arms in the face of its citizens and it just wants to spread peace and stability in Sa’ada.
Al-Qirbi further pointed that it is the state’s duty to maintain security and stability and to terminate the rebellion and enforce the law and constitution, stressing the government is keen about having dialogue will all parties under the umbrella of unity, constitution and law.
