Yemen's gas pipeline was blown up late last night, weeks after it
resumed pumping following an October attack, Yemen LNG said on Sunday.
"Yemen LNG confirms the sabotage of the 38 inch gas pipeline that links the block 18 to the Balhaf terminal on the Gulf of Aden. The sabotage occurred at 00.35 hrs on 16th December, 2012 at 173 km north
of Balhaf," the statement said.
The 320-km pipeline, which links Block 18 in Marib to the Balhaf Liquefaction Plant on the Gulf of Aden, has been repeatedly attacked this year forcing shutdowns of the Total-led Yemen LNG project.
Other shareholders in the project are Hunt (17.22%), South Korea's Kogas (6%), Yemen Gas Company (16.73%), South Korea's SK Energy (9.55%), Hyundai (5.88%), and the General Authority of Social Security and Pensions (5%).
Yemen's oil and gas pipelines have been repeatedly attacked in tribal areas, mainly in the notorious Marib province where the army has recently launched an offensive against suspected mutants and tribal
saboteurs after successive attacks on the Marib oil pipeline.
The Marib oil pipeline, which carries about 110.000 b/d from Marib and Shabwa, is still down as the authorities are unable to get into the damage sites.
