Dozens of civilians were killed and injured after two bombings rocked Yemen's capital on Wednesday.
A suicide bomber blew himself up inside the Al-Moayad Mosque in the district of Al-Jiraf and, shortly, a car bomb targeted medical teams and ambulances helping the victims from the first attack, security sources said.
Around 27 people have died and more than 56 others injured, the sources said, adding that the death toll is expected to rise because some were rushed to hospital in critical condition.
The so-called IS in Yemen claimed responsibility for the blasts.
IS emerged in the capital Sanaa after the Houthi militants seized power and expanded their control in the country in late 2014.
It has claimed most of the deadly bombings targeting mosques and residences of Houthi leaders in Sanaa in the past two months.
Today's blasts coincided with ongoing battles between the pro-government forces and the Houthi militants in several cities including Marib and Taiz.
In Taiz, the Houthi militants continued to pound populated areas killing more than a dozen civilians including children, local medical sources said.
And sources within the popular resistance which has been backing the forces said around 10 Houthis were killed and injured in the battles in the city.
In the meanwhile, the battle to retake the oil-rich Marib is continuing.
Local sources said battles between the government forces and the Houthis escalated on several fronts with deaths reported from both sides.
Forces from the Saudi-led coalition are supporting the Yemeni forces against the Houthis in Marib.
In recent days, the coalition, which has been bombing the Houthis and forces loyal to ex-president, sent thousands of troops and hundreds of tanks and military equipment for the battle of Marib.
Today, it conducted airstrikes killing tens of Houthis in cities including Marib and Saada.
After retaking Marib and the adjacent province of Jawf, the forces will advance to retake the capital Sanaa from the militants.
