Dozens of pro-government forces were killed and injured after misdirected airstrikes by the Arab coalition targeted their brigade in Yemen's eastern province of Hadramout, military sources said on Tuesday.
The airstrikes hit the 23rd brigade in the district of Abr which has been recruiting forces to fight the Houthi militants who ousted the government early this year.
They coincided with other airstrikes against forces loyal to the Houthi group and the former president which were heading to the towns on the border with Saudi Arabia, the sources said.
The forces were killed and their equipment destroyed, they added.
The crossing of Al-Wadiah which has recently continued to process visas for Yemenis travelling into Saudi Arabia was closed after the raids, informed sources said.
The other crossings on the northern border between the two countries were shut down amid sporadic battles between the Saudi army and the Houthi militants.
On Tuesday, the confrontations between the pro-government and pro-Houthi forces continued in Aden, Taiz, Dhali, Lahj, Marib, Shabwa, Baidha and Abyan. Many were killed and injured from both sides.
The Saudi-led coalition targeted the Houthi militants in these cities as well, local sources said.
Separately, reports said the Yemeni conflict factions have agreed to a five-day ceasefire during which aid will be delivered by people affected by the war.
The reports added that the ceasefire could be extended in case there are no violations.
Around 80% of the population of Yemen are in need of emergency aid due to the civil war which triggered a blockade on all sea, land and ports.
The months-long blockade has left the country to face the worst shortages of supplies.
