The UN said on Wednesday the Yemeni factions have started to name representatives for Geneva talks which will start on June 14.
Meantime, spokespersons for the government and the Houthi militants said their consultations over representation of factions that will attend the talks are continuing.
Rajeh Badi, the spokesperson for the government, told Alarabiya TV the government will dispatch seven representatives to the talks coinciding with reports the Houthis are seeking to send more then seven representatives.
Vice President Khalid Bahah is expected to be among the representatives, Badi said.
The talks will not find ways to reconcile the factions after the ouster of the government by the Houthis but rather they will be focused on establishing mechanisms for implementing the UN resolution No. 2216 by the Houthis.
The resolution called on the Houthis to cede power, withdraw from cities, return state weapons seized after the ouster of the government and stop violence and threatening security of regional countries.
Lately, Houthi delegations met with US and Russian officials as part of international efforts to pave the way for inclusive participation of all factions in the talks.
Today, Russian officials told news agencies their country backs the UN resolutions on Yemen and adherence to them.
The Yemeni government has been staying in Saudi Arabia for more than two months.
It plans to return to the country but there are fears its members could face threats amid the ongoing conflict.
