The UN Security Council passed a new resolution on Yemen backing the Arab effort to back legitimacy and stabilize the country.
14 members voted for the draft resolution which was prepared by the GCC countries. Russia abstained from the vote.
The resolution reiterated full support to the legitimacy of president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi and urged all Yemeni factions to come back to the dialog in accordance with the 2011's Gulf Initiative for power transition and the outcomes of the national dialog conference.
Moreover, it urged all UN member states to avoid sending arms and spare parts of weapons to ex-president Saleh and Houthi militants.
It supported efforts by regional countries to monitor Yemeni ports and deliver reports on violations.
The Council denounced unilateral acts and violence by Houthi militants while calling on them to respect all consensual deals, give up weapons and evacuate from properties and withdraw from all cities.
