The Yemeni Socialist Party on Monday accused the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh and his party of plotting to coup against the transition president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
On its mouthpiece, Aleshteraki website, the party also accused Saleh and the General People's Congress Party (GPC) of plotting to coup against the outcomes of the national dialog conference and the peace and national partnership agreement.
The spokesperson for the GPC, Abdu Al-Janadi, denied the accusation while regretting that the Socialist Party has started to depend on and spread baseless information.
The website quoted a source at the party's secretariat as saying the accusation was based on obvious moves Saleh and his party are seeking to form a military council as they have been undermining the transition process and Hadi's authority systemically.
"Taking advantage of the latest developments including the Houthi takeover of the capital city of Sanaa, they started two weeks ago the foundation of a military council from army and security chiefs to carry out the coup," the source added.
"The preparation of the constitution draft meant the political process has not died completely and that arrangements for elections are supposed to begin," the source said. "But what Saleh and his party are doing reveal they are against a successful political process".
The constitution-drafting committee finished the constitution draft days ago in a move which has been hailed as a giant stride on the road to a better, stable Yemen.
Last year, the party accused Saleh and the GPC of attempted assassination of its Secretary General. The accusation was officially made at a session by the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, the accusations come amid reports that Saleh has been supporting the Houthi Militant Group in a bid to come back to power. Saleh resigned in 2011 after mass protests swept across the country to demand his departure. According to observers, Saleh has since been leading a counterrevolution through military, security and non-military chiefs at the public institutions.
Observers also said Houthis seized Sanaa with direct support from Saleh. The GPC does not deny links with Houthis, who once were considered as foes and then fought.
Late last year, the UN sanctioned Saleh and two Houthi military leaders on grounds they were undermining the political transition. women who cheat on relationships
