President Abdu Rabo Mansour Hadi is to issue new significant military and security decisions, the military-run 26 September newspaper said.
It quoted well-informed sources as saying that the decisions will complete the process of the army reorganization according to national principles, pointing out that such steps will strengthen counter-terrorism efforts and resumption of essential services.
The source said that the United Nations preparers to impose deterrent sanctions against any side that might impede the political settlement or stand as stumbling block in the way of implementing the GCC-power transfer deal.
Meanwhile, dozens of soldiers of the Republican Guard protested on Thursday against Hadi's recent decisions and surrounded the headquarters of the defense ministry, but military forces left after they were threatened with using force against them.
Media sources said some brigades of the Republican Guard rebelled against Hadi's decisions and evacuated their military positions in Abyan.
A high-ranking military official said that the rebellion of the 2nd Republican Guard in Abyan is a clear-cut breach, affirming that tight measures were taken against the brigade and its commander.
Commander of the Southern Military Region Nasser Al-Tahiri told Akhabar Alyawam Newspaaper that military reinforcements were sent to Lawdar of Abyan after dozens of soldiers left their positions.
Hadi took decrees last Monday in which he transferred the command of several brigades of the Republican Guard and the First Armored Division to the new Presidential Protection Force.
The Republican Guard, Yemen’s best trained forces, is commanded by Ahmed Ali, son of the former president.
Hadi’s move is expected to ease Saleh’s influence over the military, which he used to challenge the new president.
