Interior minister, Abdul Qadir Qahtan, on Monday promised to reveal next week the initial outcomes of the investigations into the suicide bombing, which killed more than one hundred central security forces and injured hundreds others on May 21.
The House of Representatives earlier summoned the minister over the bombing, which targeted a parade rehearsal in Al-Sabeen Square. But the minister was unable to appear in Parliament today on the ground the authorities are still collecting information and evidence about the attack.
In a letter to Parliament, he said the initial outcomes of the investigations will be ready next week.
The Sharia Supporters, the offshoot of Yemen Al-Qaida, claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, saying in a statement it was as a payback for the war, especially the US-backed strikes, on militants in south Yemen.
Few months ago, the new government ordered to step up the offensive against Al-Qaida militants to retake key towns which were seized in Abyan province in mid-2011.
With support from the US and tribal fighters, the army has advanced on militants in many warfronts retaking key strongholds and positions and killing and injuring hundreds of militants including senior leaders.
