Followers of the Saada-based Houthi group has recently kidnapped Yemeni activists, Khalid Ali Arafah, Haian Al-Shamali and other persons in the Saqain district of Saada, and transferred them into unknown places, local sources affirmed.
The sources said that the Houthi had threatened the activists due to their participation in the early presidential elections held lately of February.
A leader of the Joint Meeting Parties in Saada governorate decried the arrests and abductions practiced by the Houthi group against those people who took part in the lections, calling the group to end its actions that undermine the social peace, as he said.
The Houthi group had called for boycotting the elections and attempted to break down them in most districts of Saada.
Though it vowed before ambassadors of the European Union to not attack the polling stations, it tried to distrust election in most polling stations, as a report released by Abaad Study and Research Center affirmed.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry accused the Houthi group of expelling security forces of the Ghamar district of Saada, pointing out that it formed an committee to probe the event.
In a statement, the ministry made reference that fighters of the Houthi group took over weapons and military equipments of security forces in the Ghamar district located at the Yemeni-Saudi borders.
Violent clashes renewed last between the Houthi group and tribes of Hajja after a fragile truce lasted several days.
While tribesmen accused the Houthi group of attempting to expand in some areas of Hajja, the group denied the allegations.
Spokesman of the Hajja tribes, Zaid Arjash, said the Houthi fighters launched strikes against the tribes of Kushar, pointing out that dozens of both sides were left killed and wounded.
