A suicide attack targeted a military checkpoint in central Yemen, leaving at least one killed and seven others wounded.
A booby-trapped car has exploded nearby a military checkpoint in the central Yemeni province of Marib, leaving the bomber killed as well as seven army personnel wounded, a military source told Yemen Post on condition of anonymity.
The attack was carried out by unidentified assailant, whose limbs were scattered all over the place, in Saroh area of Marib at around 5 p.m on Wednesday.
Among the wounded were two high-ranking officers including the military site commander, col. Naser Mobark Haseem.
Tow army soldiers in a very critical condition, according to medics.
As of late, assassinations and offenses on military commanders and high-ranking military officials have evidently increased.
Yemeni Defense Ministry blamed al-Qaeda for the heinous assault, saying they are the only body in the region that target Yemeni army personnel.
Al-Qaeda in Yemen has gained hotbed in the southern and eastern Yemeni province, taking an advantage of the current unrest in the country.
Clashes between al-Qaeda militants and army troops are still ongoing in the southern Yemeni province of Abyan.
