Fifteen suspected terror militants were killed and seven others injured when government forces attacked their hideouts in Yemen’s southern province of Abyan.
Two soldiers were killed and more than two dozen others injured in the clashes that last for more than 18 hours.
A security official in Abyan told Yemen Post that the next three months will witness fierce clashes in the province and that suspected al-Qaeda militants are gasping their last breath.
A security official in the province said that hundreds of militants entered the province over the last two weeks.
Residents said that fighting almost never stops in the province and militants continue to enter.
This comes as hundreds of Abyan evacuates protested last night in front of Vice President Abdu Rabu Hadi’s residence in Sana’a demanding that he puts an end to their humanitarian sufferings of Abyan people.
More than 100,000 people evacuated Abyan since May when Ansar al-Sharia, a terror group, took over the majority of the province last May.
