Over 400 soldiers and officers announced they're defection from the government forces this Saturday to the benefit of the Revolution as they decided they could no longer assault their own countrymen.
The announcement was followed by a public statement of allegiance, as the men sworn to serve the revolutionaries and protect them from oppression.
This move which coincides with a round of new appointments and reshuffling within high army ranking officers is bound to put a serious question mark over the integrity of Yemen's armed forces since many do not longer approve of the regime's decisions and policies.
This new wave of defection just ahead of another meeting of the UNSC has been received favorably by the Opposition as they see their support network in the country grow throughout, while Saleh's options are getting scarcer.
The dissidents will now be placed under General Mohsen direct command.
As for the revolutionaries in "Change Square" they were jubilant, relishing this new unexpected victory against a regime which is still holding to remnants of power after almost 11 months of popular uprising.
Meanwhile Saleh violently attacked the Opposition in an address to his troops Saturday, branding those who were trying to topple him as "thugs and criminals", exerting his loyal troops to stand the course as they were the true heroes of Yemen.
"Yemen will not collapse. Yemen is steadfast due to its people and military," Saleh said.
Although many soldiers and high ranking officers are now with the Revolution, President Ali Abdullah Saleh retains in his fold several tens of thousands of troops amongst whom the elite corpse of the Republican Guards, headed by his eldest son, Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Several politicians have said to be concerned over whether Saleh will opt for an armed confrontation since his back is being further pushed against the wall.
