Official sources in Saudi Arabia reported that over 400 illegal Somali immigrants had been returned back to Yemen as they passed over into the Kingdom, hoping to start a better life after the horrors they witnessed in their homeland.
The Police forces manning the southern Saudi borders which run through the entirety of Yemen's northern territories, intercepted the refugees as they attempted to cross over.
The 400 men and women were all returned to al-Kharaz, a UNHCR run refugee camp, after the Saudi security debriefed them, ensuring that they did not pose a threat to the region' security.
The official report states that the Somalis were using the lull of the holidays (Eid al-Adha) hoping that the Yemeni-Saudi borders would be quieter than usual to smuggle themselves into the Kingdom.
The flow of illegal immigrants has greatly increased over the past few months as desperate Somalis are willing to risk their very life in order to flee the war-zone that their country has turned into, braving the Indian Ocean on flimsy embarkations.
