Only yesterday, the Yemeni Defense Minister announced that a ceasefire had been agreed upon by all parties, reassuring foreign nations that negotiations were on the regime’s mind, not violence.
Today, as protesters are gathering to bury their dead in a Mosque near the University ground, the government is resuming its shelling campaign. Almost immediately, casualties started to mount… No death was reported so far, but if the past few days are to be used as benchmark, Sana’a might mourn yet more souls.
According to anonymous sources within the presidential palace, Ahmed Saleh, president Saleh’ s eldest son and apparent heir, gave the shelling order, wanting to crush the revolutionaries once and for all.
Meanwhile, vice-president Hadi is believed to be discussing the current situation with foreign officials and diplomats, amongst whom al-Zayani, the Head of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
