The local government and tribal elders in Taiz have agreed to activate a previous ceasefire agreement for the situation to return to normal in the Yemeni southern city rocked by violence for months, newsyemen.net reported on Monday.
The short-lived ceasefire ended days after its signing in late May after both sides started trading accusations of breaching it, with the city then turning into a large battlefield for tribesmen defending the popular revolution and the armed and security forces.
They also signed a minutes including a number of conditions for removing all unrest and conflict causes to pave the way for the situation to become normal like it was before burning the freedom square where tens of thousands of people have been conducting a sit-in to call for the ouster of the regime, it said.
The new agreement will be put into effect as from this Tuesday, the website said.
