Abu Bakr al-Qirbi, Yemen’s Foreign Minister warned that the country will face a civil war if President Saleh is forced to leave power. He insisted that Saleh will only leave power through the election ballots.
This comes as General Ali Mohsen, Yemen’s most powerful military leader, said that the revolution will not soften its stance and will continue until all revolution demands are met.
Closed door meetings for the opposition have been taking place for the last week and the opposition JMP, Yemen’s largest opposition coalition, is threatening to put matters in their own hands.
“A six month peaceful revolution has not been given any importance by world powers. Yemenis put their arms aside and demanded modern change, and the world did not listen to them,” said Ahmed Bahri, the head of the political department in the opposition Haq party.
Peaceful protests have been ongoing in Yemen for more than six months demanding that President Saleh steps down from power.
