A woman and her child were killed and three other citizens wounded when the army resumed shelling Arhab district on the outskirts of Yemen's capital Sana'a on Friday.
Locals said homes were burned when the republican guard camps continued battling tribesmen who prevented forces more than a month ago from heading to the capital to crackdown on the antigovernment protests.
Meanwhile, army sources accused the Joint Meeting Parties, the main opposition coalition in the country, of continuous attacks on military camps and personnel triggering the battles.
In Abyan, the army continued air strikes on positions of Al-Qaeda militants who have been fighting the forces for weeks. Most recently, the Militants took over more cities in Abyan amid deadly battles that forced tens of thousands of people to flee to nearby cities.
