President Ali Abdullah Saleh underwent a successful surgery for injuries in his head and chest from a rocket attack on his palace in Sana'a, agencies and TVs quoted a Saudi source as saying.
President Saleh will spend two-week convalescence in Saudi Arabia, as Yemeni officials said that the president will come back to the country soon.
Meantime, the Joint Meeting Parties, the opposition bloc, said it will prevent Saleh from coming back, amid reports he and his family had left Yemen forever.
Separately, the battles between the army and the tribesmen loyal to Hashid sheik Sadid Al-Ahmer in Yemen's capital Sana'a stopped on Sunday as Al-Ahmer expressed commitment to the truce between the two sides.
A source in Al-Ahmer's office said," the army ceased attacks on the house of late parliament speaker Abdullah bin Hussein Al-Ahmer as the mediation committee formed by president Saleh a few weeks ago reached an agreement with sheikh Sadeq".
Also Vice President, Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi, who started today his new powers as an acting president and ordered the forces to withdraw from all streets, sent a delegation to sheikh Sadeq over ceasefire. Al-Ahmer agreed to cease battles as he praised Hadi as a brave man, the source said.
In Taiz, at least three protesters were killed and tens others injured when the forces fired at many people who took to the streets to celebrate the ouster of Saleh, who left for Saudi Arabia for medial treatment.
Also, the battles between gunmen and the armed and security forces continued all day leaving several people killed and injured.
The street battles expanded in the past few weeks after the antigovernment protesters regrouped and reoccupied the freedom square and after military camps announced support to the youth-led uprising.
Children were among those injured and homes were damaged as the republican guard cannons and tanks to face the armed people.
