At least five soldiers were killed early Friday in an ambush by Al-Qaeda at a military vehicle in Yemen's province of Marib.
Few others were injured in the ambush at dawn in Serwah district by elements led by terrorist leader Ali Mubarak Firas, a local official said.
The terrorists fired an RPG at the vehicle that belonged to the brigade 312, just as the authorities said that Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula AQAP has recently started taking advantage of the unrest.
In the last few weeks, several soldiers were killed and others injured when AQAP members stepped up their attacks against security targets, mainly in southern and southeaster regions.
In response, the authorities launched a massive campaign targeting suspects leaving some dead.
