The USAID has provided aid to the University of Science and Technology Hospital (USTH) in Yemen's capital Sana'a to help it treat emergency cases following the attacks on the protesters outside Sana'a University that left dozens dead and thousands injured.
According to a statement by the U.S. mission to Sana'a, the USAID provided medical materials worth $ 16678 and the aid came after a visit to the hospital by the U.S. envoy Gerald M. Feierstein who checked the conditions of those who were injured in the square of change outside Sana'a University.
About 80 per cent of the wounded were admitted to the hospital after the security forces, policemen out of uniform and pro-government thugs fired live bullets and nerve gas at the sit-inners demanding the ouster of the regime.
The U.S. government also provided aid worth $ 1.7 million to medical centers in six Yemeni provinces including those in remote areas with the aim of helping the local medical facilities to provide better services, the statement said.
