At least three soldiers were wounded, including a colonel, in clashes between republican guards loyal to President Ali Abdullah Saleh and army units, backed by youth protesters, demanding the fall of President Saleh's regime. The clashes between the two sides took place in Mukalla.
Reports quoted witnesses and medics as saying at least two army men were wounded, including a colonel in the clashes, the second this week against Mr. Saleh, who has ruled the country for the past three decades with an iron fist.
Abdullah Ghurab, BBC Arabic correspondent in Yemen, said that he called sources in Hadramout but they did not confirm the incident, '' I called three different sources, one of them within the presidential guards but they denied.
Analysts warned of the growing risks of a civil war during the critical times the country is facing today. These clashes came after the announcement of Gen. Ali Muhesn Al-Ahamer in which he asked Saleh to step down.
