Transition president Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi has said Yemen receives and suffers from terrorism not exports it to other countries.
At a meeting with the French ambassador to Yemen Jean-Marc Grossgurin, Hadi said: "Yemen has been suffering from cross-border terrorism since 1998 and there are many events that confirm this including the terrorist attack plotted and carried out by Abu Hamza Al-Masri in Abyan," state media reported.
"That was the beginning of the war of foreign terrorists against Yemen," he said, while calling for transparent Western intelligence and media reports about such facts.
The meeting came amid reports linking Al-Qaeda in Yemen to the Paris attack days ago. The reports said one of the brothers who carried the attack on the French Newspaper Charlie Hebdo had been trained by Yemen Al-Qaeda and had met with Anwar Al-Awlaki.
AQAP was founded in Yemen in 2009 from the Saudi and local Qaeda wings. It has been seen as the most branch of the global terrorist network.
Hadi offered condolences to the French president and people over the victims from the Paris attack, which coincided with a deadly bombing near the Police College in Yemen's capital city of Sanaa killing 40 and injuring scores of others.
Last year, he revealed that 70% of terrorists in the country were not Yemenis.
